The Halifax Rainmen weren’t to be denied for a second time, once they got the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry on their home turf.
The streaking Rainmen avenged the only loss of the season Friday night at the Metro Centre, knocking off the Cavalry, 102-92, running their winning streak to four straight.
In the season opener in Okalahoma, the Cavalry out-paced the Rainmen 102-87, but Friday night, the Rainmen turned the tables.
The Rainmen remain undefeated at home, reeling off their third consecutive win in front of a noisy Metro Centre crowd.
Again, the Rainmen were fast out the gate, running up a 29-17 after the first quarter. The Cavalry battled back to cut the deficit to a single point, before Rainmen guard Adris DeLeon batted in his own nifty buzzer-beater rebound as the Rainmen led by three points, 46-43 at the half.
After that, there were no more let ups, as they increased their lead to five points, 78-73, after three and pulled away in the final quarter.
Tony Bennett, with a game high, 24, points, and Desmond Ferguson added 22 to pace the Rainmen attack.
The team also struck 13 three-pointers, good for $300 a piece for Haiti disaster relief, for a total donation of $3,900 by Team Owner Andre Levingston.
Next up for the Rainmen are the Manchester Millrats on the road Sunday in Manchester. Game time is 5:05 AST. The Rainmen then travel to Puerto Rico for a game against the Capitanes Wednesday before returning home to take on the Rochester Razorsharks at the Metro Centre, Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m.
